Those interested in the arts will be spoiled for choice as the district plays host to a cornucopia of annual arts events throughout the year including those in Knaresborough, Ripon and Aldborough.

Harrogate International Festivals offer a Children’s Festival, a Comedy Festival and the ever-growing, prestigious Crime Writing Festival.

The renowned International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival has now made Harrogate its home with a comprehensive season of some of the best productions around the country and guest productions from New York.

Heritage sites across the region hold regular guided tours and demonstrations, and in September open their doors for the popular Heritage Open Days.

Fairs and outdoor festivals take place throughout the year as do antique fairs, rallies and food shows.

Historical enactments and themed 1940s weekends are really taking off with annual events in Harrogate and Pateley Bridge
