Half Term Events around Harrogate District
Worrying how to keep the children happy this half term? Well worry no more — many of our attractions are running special events and there's something to keep everyone happy in and around Harrogate, Ripon & Nidderdale when school's out — whatever the weather!
Whilst some of these activities charge an entrance fee (see links for details) — there's plenty to keep the children amused in and around Harrogate over half term without breaking the bank!
As well as specific events for youngsters you can find a selection of events that will appeal to the whole family.
Just because school is out it doesn't mean the learning has to stop, you can always include a little knowledge in your half term activities, from the nature that hides under our noses to history based experiences about how some of our most iconic places came to be.
Explore the world of the animals that only come out at night and make a home for wildlife that you can take home for the creatures that live in your own garden.
With the nights dark once again, it's a great time to try star gazing. Last year saw the UK’s first astronaut for 25 years spend several months in the International Space Station and ground-breaking completion of missions into space from both NASA and ESA (European Space Agency).
With a range of apps and information to help anyone get started there has never been a better time to get outside and learn a little more about just what's up there. The Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Beauty has some wonderfully dark skies that let you look up and see it all.
As spring gets nearer it’s a great time to learn about the wildlife that lives around us and how we can help, by making little wildlife homes in our gardens, and protecting much loved British animals like the Hedgehog, and garden birds.
