What's On Around Boroughbridge

Boroughbridge’s thriving programme of events throughout the year will appeal to the widest tastes of visitors!

The hugely popular Aldborough and Boroughbridge Show takes place each year in July and draws visitors, exhibitors and competitors from across the county for a great day out.

As well as the traditional country show livestock and equestrian classes, enjoy displays of rural crafts and foods, terrier racing and dog agility, heavy horses, vintage vehicles and much more.  Truly something for everyone!

The town holds an Easter Walking Festival each year, celebrating its membership of the Walkers are Welcome Towns network.  It offers guided walks, taking in some of the fascinating local battlefield and Roman sites.

It could be down to the very fertile soil or the locals’ green fingers– but the cottage gardens around Boroughbridge are a riot of colour in Summer.  Many local villages hold open garden festivals – a wonderful opportunity to wander in and out of otherwise private gardens, to marvel at the blooms and perhaps partake of home baked cakes and a refreshing cup of tea while you take in your surroundings.

Gardening is much celebrated in Boroughbridge with an annual Plot to Plate festival highlighting the allotment and the growing and cooking of home grown produce.

The Northern Aldborough Festival in June has developed a reputation over more than 20 years as a premier classical music event, bringing music to new audiences, in a range of venues where it might not otherwise be heard with an emphasis on showcasing young and new talent and commissioning new works.  Expect some very special performances!

Boroughbridge is the heart of a broad and rural community and local and village events are always taking place as the vibrant communities come together to celebrate their way of life and the unique texture of their special bit of Yorkshire.
