10 unmissable events this summer
As you look ahead to the summer, we have some suggestions of events in the Harrogate District for you to plan your days around.
- The Giant Bubbleman at Stockeld Park – every weekend from 12th June – 18th July visitors will have the delights of this additional entertainment. Huge colourful bubbles are a summer crowd pleaser for all ages.
- From 10th July visit Studley Royal Water Garden to see “These Passing Things” an outdoor exhibition of large scale, colourful, innovative artworks. These modern pieces contrast with their traditional setting and draw your attention immediately. They are focal points, conversation starters and photographic backdrops like the Georgian follies and Fountains Abbey itself.

- The Great Yorkshire Show – this iconic event will be spread over four days for the first time in its history to allow for social distancing, taking place from 13th – 16th July. With animal judging, show jumping, the latest farming machinery, arts and crafts, fine foods, live music and entertainment it is definitely much more than an agricultural show.
- The annual Harrogate Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival, featuring Richard Osman, will take place from 22nd -25th July with authors and fans gathering in town for performances, trails, awards, readings and more.

- At Mother Shipton’s in Knaresborough there is an Alice in Wonderland theme this summer from 24th July – 5th September. Expect a magical wonderland with a touch of madness!

- The Himalayan Garden and Sculpture Park near Ripon has a magical fairy door trail for children to discover and these charming creatures will even reply to postcards that children post in a special WingMail post box.
- Studfold Adventure Trail in Nidderdale also has a fairy and pixie adventure this summer and visitors are welcome to arrive in fancy dress. There is also the opportunity to make a fairy wish.

- Harrogate Theatre is presenting something unique this summer in the form of a live, collaborative performance, Our Gate, that moves between several locations around the town from 24th – 29th August. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to participate.
- The spectacular Fireworks Championships take place at Newby Hall and Gardens on 28th August from 6 -10:30pm when 3 teams compete with stunning displays set to music. Watch from your picnic rug or camping chair in this superb setting.

- The Harrogate Autumn Flower Show will be held at Newby Hall and Gardens for the first time from 17th – 19th September. Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to visit a stately home and gardens and a beloved gardening show in the same day.
