Celebrating Mother’s Day across the Harrogate district

Mother’s Day is a celebration of delicious treats, spring flowers and spending time with loved ones.

As we enjoy the milder days a walk in a sunny park among the seasonal blooms followed by a hot drink sounds like the perfect way to spend a family Sunday; or maybe you prefer Sunday lunch, a spa or something a little more adventurous? If you need some inspiration for your special day, read on...

Bettys

Harrogate is famous for afternoon tea with the tradition dating back over a hundred years and many hotels and cafes offering variations on the tasty repast to sustain hungry socialites, shoppers and spa goers. The tasty treat is also enjoyed on holidays and family celebrations such as birthdays and Mother's Day.

Bettys Tea Rooms are prominently located in the town centre and at the beautiful RHS Garden Harlow CarrHead to either of these cafes for silver service, beautiful cakes and a traditional atmosphere.

A luxurious afternoon tea experience awaits you at Carters Champagne Bar at The Majestic Hotel, one of the grandest establishments in town where everyone feels special. Choose from the full or half afternoon tea options with Taylor's of Harrogate tea, filter coffee or even something sparkling if you're in a celebratory mood.

For locally sourced, farm fresh afternoon tea head to Fodder at the Great Yorkshire Showground, where the countryside views are as enjoyable as the flavours on offer.

If your family day out centres around a walk there are many beautiful and remarkable routes to enjoy together in the Harrogate district.

RHS Garden Harlow Carr is stunning all year round but it's especially welcoming to explore the 58 acres of varied planting, meandering pathways and gentle waterways when the winter months have just left us.

The Harrogate district is lucky to have some of the most colourful and immaculately kept public parks and gardens. You can stroll like a Victorian lady in Valley Gardens, keep watch from a medieval castle at Knaresborough Castle and Bebra Gardens, and find creatures from popular children's literature in Ripon Spa Gardens.

Venturing further afield you will find the breathtaking Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden, a World Heritage Site, with acres of landscape for walking, ruins to explore, a deer park and of course a tea shop for well earned refreshments.

Nidderdale Llamas small

Looking for a walk with a difference? Try Nidderdale Llamas for an experience you won't forget. Walking with a llama allows you to bond with a calm, gentle creature for a stroll in the countryside giving you the 'Feel Good' factor that comes from connecting with nature. Each llama has a unique personality and you will become firm friends as you walk together.
