Samuel’s Restaurant at Swinton Park is a renowned 2 AA Rosette restaurant, named after Samuel Cunliffe-Lister who purchased the estate in 1880 and built the wing of Swinton Park which is home to Samuel’s Restaurant today.
Walk into Samuel’s Restaurant and be in awe at the ornate gold leaf ceiling and enormous feature mantelpiece with crackling fire in the winter months. The sweeping views over the gardens, home lake and Deer Park, which is home to a herd of 200 fallow deer, completes this unique, fine dining experience.
The seasonal restaurant menus emphasise seasonal and local produce inspired by the fruit, vegetables and herbs grown in the hotel’s four acre walled garden (the largest hotel kitchen garden in the UK). Surrounded by the 20,000 acre estate, stretching from Wensleydale’s River Ure up onto the Dales Estate, venison, rabbit, smoked trout and game are a few examples of the local ingredients sourced for the kitchen.
Samuel’s enjoys an enviable reputation which has been recognised at the Yorkshire Post’s Oliver Awards 2020, winning the Sustainability Category which recognises Swinton Park’s approach to sustainability with our ‘Estate to Plate’ ethos.
Samuel’s is renowned for providing some of the best fine dining in the north of England. The food on your plate is a reflection of the landscape you can see around you, a sweeping, romantic celebration of what Swinton Park and Yorkshire at large have always had in spades: a rich, deep connection to the land and a quiet, unshowy confidence in the produce which that land gives up.
Open Wednesday – Sunday 7pm until 9:30pm
Children under the age of 8 are not permitted to dine in Samuel’s in the evening. The Private Dining Room will be laid for family dining whenever available.
Experience the visual spectacle with salmon served to your tastes and carved at the table by Samuel’s Restaurant Manager, or feel the heat of the Flambe trolley as your courses are completed before you with the theatre style dining. A Sunday Lunch worthy of being captured, the ideal destination for that special Sunday gathering with the family to celebrate an anniversary or a birthday, or simply to catch up.
Sunday Lunch is served 12:30 until 2pm.
Weekday lunch bookings are available for parties of 8 or more, by prior arrangement.
Indulge in a quintessential British ritual at Swinton Park. Traditional Afternoon Tea is served in one of the hotel’s stately rooms, including the Georgian Drawing Room, or on the lawn next to the hotel with uninterrupted views of the Deer Park.
All guests of Samuel’s Restaurant receive complimentary access to enjoy a stroll around the beautiful late 18th Century listed landscaped parkland and gardens. We invite you to the Walled Garden where you’ll often see Chefs wandering to collect ingredients for the day.
We strongly recommend that guests reserve tables in advance.
