Harrogate’s Vocalis Chamber Choir will be performing a joyful concert to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee. This summer concert ‘A Garland for the Queen’ is a not-to-be-missed event, so come along and enjoy the music with strawberries and cream and good company. Drinks will also be available. The concert will include a wide variety of choral music from both Elizabethan periods and beyond, with 16th century madrigals and sacred music sitting alongside part songs and other pieces from the 20th century. The programme features pieces by Byrd, Weelkes, Purcell, Mendelssohn, Ireland, Finzi and Vaughan Williams, along with part songs by Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel. Vocalis are also delighted to be singing a new choral piece by Thomas Hewitt Jones - In Our Service - commissioned by the Royal School of Church Music to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. So, a lovely eclectic mix with something for all tastes! Proceeds from this concert will go towards the Ripley Church Fabric Fund and Harrogate District of Sanctuary.. Tickets are £12 adults, £5 students, including strawberries and cream, under 19s and carers accompanying people attend free. Tickets available online at allsaintsripley.org/garland, from the church or on the door.
