This year’s festival will be a little different; to facilitate the physical distancing guidelines the festival will take place both within St Johns Church, and across Knaresborough town centre.
Due to the changes in Tier for North Yorkshire announced on 30 December, the decision has been made to end the festival on that day. The organisers would like to thank all those who attended and supported the event this year.
This year’s theme will be “Lighten the Darkness” and an on-line trail will be available to download shortly to introduce the trees on display and lead visitors around the town. Shops will have their trees displayed from Saturday 5th December and the church festival will open on Saturday 12th December and run through until Wednesday 6th January (12th night) 2021, allowing the town to truly celebrate the run-up to Christmas.
It is planned that a maximum of 50 trees will be displayed in church and another 20+ in shop windows throughout the centre of town. An on-line trail will be produced and made available to download covering all 70 trees, and a timed entry system will enable safe access to the church.
Opening times at St John’s will be 12.00 noon - 4.00pm daily. Entry will be strictly by ticket only booked via Eventbrite, with up to 15 tickets available for each half hour entry slot (maximum 120 tickets per day). Your visit to the festival must not exceed one hour in duration. Entry slots will be as follows: 1200, 1230, 1300, 1330, 1400, 1430, 1500, 1530.
Admission to the festival is free, but there will be the opportunity to donate to the church and to our chosen charity for this year which is Cancer Research. Donations can be made on the day of your visit or via our Just Giving page on Eventbrite at any time. Please note that strict entry regulations will be place to allow this event to go ahead and to keep everyone safe.
