Summer Holiday Fun

The summer holidays are all about family fun through exploration and discovery mixed in with a bit of rest and relaxation. If you’re spending your summer holidays in the Harrogate District then you can definitely relax as we’ve got it covered.

It can be quite a challenge to keep everyone entertained during the summer holidays so we’ve put together some Top 10’s of what to do and where to go to help you plan out your days.

Summer Sun

The summer holidays can get very expensive especially when you’re trying to keep everyone happy, so have a look at our Top 10 sunny days out for free. Why not pack a picnic, head out and discover some of the wonderful hidden gems in our District.

Explore the countryside and the stunning landscape that is the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), go on foot, by bike or even in a wetsuit! Alternatively visit one of our lovely towns and enjoy an afternoon in the Valley Gardens, Ripon Spa Gardens or relax by the River Nidd in Knaresborough.

Rainy Days

‘Bring me sunshine…’ we wish we could but as that’s not always possible, we’ve put together a very useful Top 10 things to do on a rainy day. As you will see there’s still plenty to do in the Harrogate District even if the British weather doesn’t remember it’s summer! There are museums and galleries, exhibitions and workshops that will keep everyone entertained, young and old. And if you fancy making a splash we have a number of indoor pools.

Active Minds

It’s important to keep young minds energised and stimulated even when it’s the school holidays. Follow an adventure trail, explore our National Trust sites and Historic Houses - from museums and gardens to rocks, caves and castles there’s so much to discover, so take a look at our Top 10 days out to expand young minds.

Events Every Day

On top of all this, there are events taking place every day of the summer holidays across the Harrogate district, indoors and out, active or restful.  See the full list below!
