The Big Coronation Celebration
Celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III with Harrogate's Big Coronation Celebration. A three day party-in-the-park in the beautiful setting of the Valley Gardens, a jewel in Harrogate’s crown.
Families and friends can gather to mark this momentous event over the bank holiday weekend with a live stream of the Coronation ceremony on a big screen, family-friendly entertainment, fairground rides and an artisan market from Little Bird Made.
Bring your picnic blanket and settle in for the weekend of celebrations. Watch the crowning of our new King with the Coronation ceremony live from Westminster Abbey in London on Saturday 6 May followed by the full programme of celebrations including Fun Family Films.
Our big screen will be in place on Saturday and Sunday showing the coronation, parade and selection of family films in the late afternoon and early evening.
Alongside the big screen, a stage hosted by local radio station Your Harrogate will see a full and fun line-up of family-friendly entertainment making sure you have a royally good time.
A selection of small fairground rides (free to ride) will keep the little ones entertained alongside fun, family entertainment throughout the weekend, and pop-up character appearances and circus workshops
Browse the market stalls that will line the colonnades of Valley Gardens, pick up deliciously home-baked treats or take home a handmade gift or goodie all for yourself from the independent sellers of the Little Bird Made market.
A Community Hub will offer the opportunity to learn about some of Harrogate's amazing community groups and charities, as well as find out how you can get involved.

The event is free to attend for all.
Is there going to be food at the celebration?
Yes, there will be a range of food vendors at the event to satisfy both sweet and savoury palates.
You can also pick up hot drinks and homemade bakes and treats from the Little Bird Made artisan market.
Why not also venture into Harrogate and try one of the many delicious independent cafes, bars and restaurants?
Can I bring my own picnic to the Coronation Celebration?
Yes, you are welcome to bring your own picnic, we just ask that all rubbish is disposed of during your visit.
Can I bring my dog to the Coronation Celebration?
Yes, dogs are welcome as long as they are kept on a lead however please be aware that the area could get crowded and there will be loud music.
What will be shown on the big screen at the Coronation Celebration?
The big screen will live stream all BBC coverage of the Coronation programme of events (full coverage still to be announced).
This is likely to include the full Coronation Ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London, processions to and from the abbey and a balcony appearance at Buckingham Palace. In the evening there will be a show of family films, details to be confirmed nearer the event.
