How Stean Gorge - a Natural Wonder. Tasty, wholesome food is served here within this leafy café setting in the Yorkshire Dales. You can choose from an array of hot meals including an all day breakfast, lasagne, scampi, omelette or sausage, bacon, egg and chips.

We also have a choice of lighter snacks including jacket potatoes, baguettes, bacon butties or home made soup. After a meal try one of our delicious desserts. The home made Pavlova has been a firm favourite for nearly 40 years now or try How Stean Gorge Ice Cream, made only ½ mile away in Lofthouse. You can even see the cows that make it from the car park. Flavours include chocolate, vanilla and fruits of the forest. You can also watch the exciting outdoor adventure activities from the bridge (or join in!) or spot the wildlife as you sip your cuppa!
Whilst enjoying your cup of tea made from the local spring, choose from a selection of irresistible home made cakes.
After a meal, why not take the opportunity to walk around How Stean Gorge itself. Follow the trails and explore the caves. Don’t forget to bring your wellies and a torch! Outdoor adventure activities occur daily but advance booking is essential. Choose from abseiling and gorge walking, the via ferrata- high wire adventure course, caving, canoeing or all 5!
From October to March treat yourself to an amazing afternoon tea with one of the best views in Yorkshire. An amazing selection of sandwiches, scones and a variety of cakes and drinks 15% discount if you book in advance.
SUN TERRACE / CHILDREN’S CLIMBING FRAME
Eat and drink whilst watching the children in the children’s play area which is directly adjacent the cafe making it an ideal location to have that well deserved treat whilst being able to watch the children play.
You can order bread, eggs, bacon, sausage or milk from the shop. We also sell toys, souvenirs, maps, books as well as sweets, chocolate, ice cream and ice lollies.
Free wifi is available in the restaurant and on the terrace.
Groups are very welcome. Specific eating requirements can be met if prior notice is given.
* Open Daily; 10am – 6pm (dusk in winter unless by prior arrangement) Closed: Nidderdale Show Day (Sept), Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Last orders for food are taken at 5pm however, we can take group bookings for 10 + people for early evening meals if booked in advance. During the summer school holidays the café is open for breakfast from 9am on Saturdays and Sundays.
