Welcome from Harrogate Borough Council

Hello, and welcome to Harrogate!

We’re delighted the Local Government Association has decided to host its annual conference at Harrogate Convention Centre. Especially as it is the first time in the three years the association has hosted an in-person event.

And what better venue and place than the convention centre and Harrogate?

While Harrogate town centre is world-famous, and rightly so having hosted numerous conferences, 1982 Eurovision Song Contest, as well as major sporting events such as Tour de France Grande Depart finish and UCI Road World Championships.

The district as a whole is a fantastic destination, right in the heart of North Yorkshire.

We are home to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, RHS Garden Harlow Carr, Turkish Baths, Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal World Heritage Site, a magnificent cathedral and an ancient castle.

There is also a plethora of parks and gardens, bars and restaurants, galleries and museums, and of course, tea rooms in towns such as Knaresborough, Boroughbridge, Masham, Pateley Bridge and Ripon.

So, whatever your preference, I’m sure there is something for everyone just a stone’s throw from the town centre.

All it leaves us to say, is we hope you have a fantastic event at the convention centre and you get a warm welcome from the Harrogate district.

Best wishes,

Chief executive, Wallace Sampson OBE &  Leader of the council, Richard Cooper
