Yorkshire Cycling 2015 - Le Tour de Yorkshire is coming

Hot on the heels of the Tour de France Grand Depart 2014, comes Le Tour de Yorkshire The UCI-approved 2.1 race, to be held 1-3 May, is expected to become the flagship cycling event for the UK in 2015. Attracting the participation of top international teams and cycling stars, it will feature in the international cycling calendar and be broadcast on national TV and throughout Europe.

York and Leeds will host a start or finish over the three day event so Harrogate, Knaresborough, Boroughbridge and the surrounding area are ideally placed for cycling enthusiasts to watch the race and do a bit of cycling of their own.  There are a range of great routes to choose from, including the Stage One route of the Tour de France Grand Depart.

The race will have three stages.  Final route details will be revealed on 21st January but Bridlington, Leeds, Scarborough, Selby , Wakefield and York have all been confirmed as start or finish points over the bank holiday weekend.

A mass sportive with several distances where people can ride the same route as the Pros will be ehld on day three (3 May) and thousands are expected to take part.  To apply to enter the sportive go to www.letouryorkshire.com.
