22nd April 2014

Categories: News

To celebrate the ‘Yorkshire Grand Depart’ and a plethora of sport on the 5th & 6th of July Stockeld Park is hosting an exciting festival to get in the spirit of this amazing sporting weekend.

Stockeld Park is perfectly situated for keen cyclists to park and cycle to both the Harrogate and Leeds sections of the race. Early bird breakfasts and parking will be available from 0500.

For families, as well as playing in all the usual adventure zones you can watch the race on a giant screen and soak up the atmosphere in relaxed style in the picnic field, whilst enjoying French food, treats and drinks.

Stockeld Park is not only screening ‘Yorkshire Grand Depart’, they will also be presenting the first of the quarter finals of the World Cup on their giant screen on the Saturday night and the Wimbledon Final on the Sunday, so why not make the most of watching these highly anticipated sporting events on a super sized screen with your family.

The kids can take in the spirit of the weekend by trying their hand at Unicycle training with street performers, have a go on the ‘Likeabike’ balance course, take part in the sporting challenges, try some themed crafts, get a ‘cycle’ glitter tattoo and have their faces painted.

Amy Thornton, General Manager at Stockeld Park, said: “We have been excited about this weekend for 18 months, we can’t wait to be a part of the Tour coming to Yorkshire, it is fantastic for the region and the tourism legacy we will all benefit from, we are thrilled to be sharing our amazing county with the world”

With a strong emphasis on providing visitors with an adventure, Stockeld Park blends outdoor activity pursuits with original sights, sounds and sculptures – all based in one of Yorkshire’s most ancient woodland locations, a real hidden gem.
