LATEST INFORMATION ON VISITING HARROGATE DISTRICT TAP HERE
Studio Galleries & Workshops
The landscape and history of the towns and landscape around Harrogate have always influenced the creative minds that live here and they continue to do so to this day.
As well as creating small pieces for commercial use several of our artists have worked on large pieces of public or official works for national schemes and events.
From the rolling shapes and shades of the moors to the industries and crafts that have shaped the communities over the years, all these influences are used to create wonderful pieces of art and sculpture across our district.
Visiting a studio Gallery gives you the opportunity to gain some context to the work of the artist, talk about their inspiration, as well as understanding a little more about any pieces you might buy for your home. The informal atmosphere will often allow you to observe the artist as they work, seeing the steps involved in taking a piece from an idea to a reality.
You can also discover trades and crafts that have slipped from mainstream use but are being kept alive by dedicated enthusiasts who still prefer the traditional hands on techniques to the impersonal production methods of the modern day.
Many of the studio galleries also run classes and courses that offer you then chance to find your own creative centre, learn a new skill or revive a lost talent that you haven’t used for many years.
Arts and Crafts don’t have to be serious, enjoy a day making a stain glass window, or working with clay or even creating your own jewellery with other like-minded people where you can share ideas and achievements.
Courses and sessions cater to a range of abilities and include all the materials, the work space you will be using and the guidance from you instructor, all you need to bring is your own passion and enthusiasm.
